18/06/20 - Cornish Buildings Group Awards
We have just been notified that Waterhouse on the river Camel has been shortlisted for a Cornish Buildings Group Award. We won't know if we have won an award for some time due to social distancing and lockdown measures; the judges are not expected to visit shortlisted projects until September.

24/03/20 - Coronavirus closes sites
As of today we have been forced to close all of our sites for the welfare of our team. The government announced on Monday that all non essential travel should cease, the police have been stopping contractors from working and nearly all building merchants and suppliers have also stopped trading. We are unsure how long this may affect normal business and look forward to progressing our exciting projects as soon as possible. In the meantime stay home, stay safe and healthy.
12/12/18 - Camel Estuary Replacement Dwelling
The structural frame is nearly complete. The inset picture shows the crane lifting the large glulam beams onto the steel goal frames which will accommodate the glazing enabling panoramic views of the river. The majority of the structure is timber frame, but will also accommodate steelwork and brickwork. We are looking forward to the topping out ceremony before progressing with closing the building in and over the coming months making it water tight.
04/10/18 - Feock Replacement Dwelling
This replacement dwelling is nearing the final stages of the build with 2nd fix started. Externally the finishes are nearing completion with the wildflower roof due to be installed in 3 weeks time. The landscaping works have also started and the final shaping of the lake is underway. We are looking forward to seeing the lake filled once the ground loops for the heat pump have been installed at the bottom of the lake. We are currently constructing the cantilevered "floating" decking.
03/08/18 - Groundworks Underway - Camel Estuary
We are progressing well with the ground works and are currently excavating the foul drainage runs. The piles to the made-up ground at the front of the building are also being installed. We will start manufacturing the timber frame structure in the coming weeks and will continue to progress the foundations and slab.
29/06/18 - Next Project About to Start
We will be starting a new project next week. This replacement dwelling overlooks the River Camel and has been designed by ARCO2 Architecture Ltd.
The house has been designed to blend into the landscape whilst maximising the panoramic river and countryside views. Internally it will have a rustic warehouse conversion feel utilising reclaimed timber, bricks, natural timber and concrete. The internal courtyard/orangery will provide a warm green space leading out onto a sheltered external courtyard. It will feature a Wildflower roof, Super Insulation, Airtight/Breathable Construction, Heat Pump and high spec. glazing.
21/06/18 - Feock Project Update
The project has now reached the stage where multiple trades are on site including Zinc Roof, 1st fix electrics, 1st fix plumbing, Window Installation, Air-tightness champion, carpenters and stone mason.
The progress can now been seen with every week that passes. The weather has been kind to the external trades and the building is nearly watertight.
We will be starting some of the 1st stage landscaping now that the earth has dried out.
02/04/18 - Feock Project Update
The structural frame is nearing completion, the roof joists should be complete by the middle of the month. Fingers crossed for some dry weather. now that we are in Spring Snow prevented safe working on site for 3 days, but we have been able to maintain progress in the rain.
The clever design makes the most of the beautiful site, views and sunshine. Until now it has been difficult to fully appreciate the design. Walking around the rooms and seeing how the building interacts with the environment has given the team added excitement. We look forward to the topping out ceremony!
05/03/18 - Daymer Lane Project Update
Nearly complete. This clever design in Daymer Lane has a vibrant and playful frontage whilst also retaining vernacular charm. The rear opens up to the estuary view across Rock and to Padstow beyond.
We look forward to the final stages of this project and will feature some completed photos over the coming months.

The ground floor timber spaced frame is complete. We are currently installing joists, glulam beams, steel beams and constructing the thermal mass internal blockwork spine wall and double sided wood burner wall.
The coming weeks will see the first floor timber frame panels installed.
Despite a rainy Winter we have made great progress with minimal delays due to weather, we are looking forward to some dry weather and sunshine as we enter Spring.
14/09/17 - Feock Project Update
Following receipt of the English Nature Bat Licence the existing building was demolished at the beginning of August. The site has now been leveled and blinded in preparation for the concrete raft foundation. The pond has been excavated , garden leveled and foul drainage installed.
20/06/17 - Daymer Bay Project Update
This exciting house in Daymer Lane is progressing well. We have finished building and erecting the timber frame. The windows have arrived on-site and will be installed over the coming weeks. The house will then be watertight and ready for 1st fix plumbing and electrics.
19/06/17 - Cornish Buildings Group
Cornish Buildings Group Award for Reflection in Portwrinkle. The judges made the following comments: The house is distinctive without overtly dominating its sensitive setting. The entrance to the house is cleverly handled, ensuring that the breath taking view out to sea is amplified. The recessing of the large windows, below the over-sailing curved roof, facilitates views, whilst minimising the impact of glare from the windows. The judges noted the interaction of the reverse curves of the house and the declivity in which it sits creates a sophisticated view of the house from the beach.
28/03/17 - Latest Project in Daymer Lane
This exciting new house along Daymer Lane in between Polzeath and Rock is well underway. During the groundworks phase we encountered many hidden springs which was a challenge during a very wet winter period. We are now out of the ground, have fabricated the timber frame in our workshop and are now busy erecting the superstructure.
