22/09/20 - Structural Timber Awards

Waterhouse has just been shortlisted as a finalist at the prestigious Structural Timber Awards which will be announced early next year. The category is Private Housing Project of the Year and will be promoted to a national audience.



18/06/20 - Cornish Buildings Group Awards

We have just been notified that Waterhouse on the river Camel has been shortlisted for a Cornish Buildings Group Award. We won't know if we have won an award for some time due to social distancing and lockdown measures; the judges are not expected to visit shortlisted projects until September.



26/03/20 - National Building & Construction Awards

Amid the current uncertainty due to Coronavirus we have received some very good news....we have been shortlisted for Contractor of the Year at the National Building & Construction Awards 2020


24/03/20 - Coronavirus closes sites

As of today we have been forced to close all of our sites for the welfare of our team. The government announced on Monday that all non essential travel should cease, the police have been stopping contractors from working and nearly all building merchants and suppliers have also stopped trading. We are unsure how long this may affect normal business and look forward to progressing our exciting projects as soon as possible. In the meantime stay home, stay safe and healthy.


17/12/19 - Camel Estuary Project nearly complete

The building was handed over to the owners today, just in time for them to celebrate and enjoy the house over Christmas. Landscaping works continue and should be completed in January.


12/11/19 - Carlyon Bay Project underway

4 weeks into the project and we have a beautiful clear day for excavation of foundations.



30/10/19 - Feock House & Pool Complete

Today is the celebration of the project being complete. The house is set of beautifully by the lake and organic landscaping with the pool building complimenting a fantastic family home.


12/12/18 - Camel Estuary Replacement Dwelling

The structural frame is nearly complete. The inset picture shows the crane lifting the large glulam beams onto the steel goal frames which will accommodate the glazing enabling panoramic views of the river. The majority of the structure is timber frame, but will also accommodate steelwork and brickwork. We are looking forward to the topping out ceremony before progressing with closing the building in and over the coming months making it water tight.



04/10/18 - Feock Replacement Dwelling

This replacement dwelling is nearing the final stages of the build with 2nd fix started. Externally the finishes are nearing completion with the wildflower roof due to be installed in 3 weeks time. The landscaping works have also started and the final shaping of the lake is underway. We are looking forward to seeing the lake filled once the ground loops for the heat pump have been installed at the bottom of the lake. We are currently constructing the cantilevered "floating" decking.



03/08/18 - Groundworks Underway - Camel Estuary

We are progressing well with the ground works and are currently excavating the foul drainage runs. The piles to the made-up ground at the front of the building are also being installed. We will start manufacturing the timber frame structure in the coming weeks and will continue to progress the foundations and slab.


19/07/18 - ADD SC now Warmcel Installers

ADD SC are now Warmcel installers and are currently installing Warmcel (recycled newspaper insulation) on our latest project in Feock. We are also the only approved installers in Cornwall.



29/06/18 - Next Project About to Start

We will be starting a new project next week. This replacement dwelling overlooks the River Camel and has been designed by ARCO2 Architecture Ltd. The house has been designed to blend into the landscape whilst maximising the panoramic river and countryside views. Internally it will have a rustic warehouse conversion feel utilising reclaimed timber, bricks, natural timber and concrete. The internal courtyard/orangery will provide a warm green space leading out onto a sheltered external courtyard. It will feature a Wildflower roof, Super Insulation, Airtight/Breathable Construction, Heat Pump and high spec. glazing.



21/06/18 - Feock Project Update

The project has now reached the stage where multiple trades are on site including Zinc Roof, 1st fix electrics, 1st fix plumbing, Window Installation, Air-tightness champion, carpenters and stone mason. The progress can now been seen with every week that passes. The weather has been kind to the external trades and the building is nearly watertight. We will be starting some of the 1st stage landscaping now that the earth has dried out.


30/05/18 - Topping Out at Feock

The ancient tradition of Topping Out. Thanks to all that attended and all that have helped get the project this far.


02/04/18 - Feock Project Update

The structural frame is nearing completion, the roof joists should be complete by the middle of the month. Fingers crossed for some dry weather. now that we are in Spring Snow prevented safe working on site for 3 days, but we have been able to maintain progress in the rain. The clever design makes the most of the beautiful site, views and sunshine. Until now it has been difficult to fully appreciate the design. Walking around the rooms and seeing how the building interacts with the environment has given the team added excitement. We look forward to the topping out ceremony!


05/03/18 - Daymer Lane Project Update

Nearly complete. This clever design in Daymer Lane has a vibrant and playful frontage whilst also retaining vernacular charm. The rear opens up to the estuary view across Rock and to Padstow beyond. We look forward to the final stages of this project and will feature some completed photos over the coming months.



28/02/18 - Feock Project Update

The ground floor timber spaced frame is complete. We are currently installing joists, glulam beams, steel beams and constructing the thermal mass internal blockwork spine wall and double sided wood burner wall. The coming weeks will see the first floor timber frame panels installed. Despite a rainy Winter we have made great progress with minimal delays due to weather, we are looking forward to some dry weather and sunshine as we enter Spring.


19/09/17 - Daymer Lane Project Update

Works are progressing well. The roof has been slated, rendering is underway. The 1st floor has been plasterboarded ready for skimming. The ground floor plasterboard is due to start shortly. Completion expected Spring 2018.


14/09/17 - Feock Project Update

Following receipt of the English Nature Bat Licence the existing building was demolished at the beginning of August. The site has now been leveled and blinded in preparation for the concrete raft foundation. The pond has been excavated , garden leveled and foul drainage installed.

12/06/17 - New Project Started on SIte

We have recently started building this low energy replacement dwelling in Feock. The house is expected to take 12 months to construct. Further updates to follow.


10/06/17 - Green Apple Awards

Success at the International Green Apple Awards at the Houses of Parliament. Ian and his family picking up a Silver award for Velidhu and Champion of Champions (overall top award) for our house in Portwrinkle.


06/06/17 - Intricate Roof

Our carpenters have worked their magic on this complicated and intricate roof structure at Daymer Lane.


12/05/17 - LABC Awards

Directors Matt, Ian and Nathan receiving a Special Commendation at the annual LABC Awards for our last project in Portwrinkle. Matt was also a finalist for Best Residential Site Agent.


28/03/17 - Latest Project in Daymer Lane

This exciting new house along Daymer Lane in between Polzeath and Rock is well underway. During the groundworks phase we encountered many hidden springs which was a challenge during a very wet winter period. We are now out of the ground, have fabricated the timber frame in our workshop and are now busy erecting the superstructure.



17/03/17 - Awards Shortlist

Director Matt Davis has been shortlisted for Best Residential Site Agent of the Year at this years LABC awards. The awards will be held at a black tie ceremony in Plymouth on 12th May.


01/10/16 - New House in Daymer Bay starts on-site

Work has started on this exciting new dwelling at Daymer Bay. Completion due for October 2017.


21/07/16 - ADD SC Working with CBRE

Over the summer we will be working with CBRE who are the worlds leading commercial property and real estate services adviser, providing a comprehensive range of commercial property services.



19/07/16 - ADD Sustainable Construction becomes a Limited Company!

ARCO2 Directors Ian Armstrong and Nathan Davis established ADD Sustainable Construction Ltd along with ADD SC Director Matt Davis. We will be working alongside ARCO2 to provide a high quality design and build solution.
