Egloskerry Day Nursery, Launceston, Cornwall Completed in 2011 Egloskerry Day nursery is a new, fully accessible nursery for 20 children located on a primary school site near Launceston. The building has a mono pitched roof with northern orientation containing rooflights which, coupled with extensive south facing clerestory glazing, ensures natural daylight into the centre of the building and easy natural ventilation and summer cooling. Additional flat sedum roofs encourage wildlife and are also sympathetic within the rural character of the site. The glulam timber frame exposed internally around the range of teaching spaces, offices, bathroom facilities and storage areas the building has to offer. The building is finished with locally grown timber cladding and hung slate creating accommodation for the local bat population. The open plan environment provides versatile spaces with an abundance of natural materials such as timber, linoleum and wool finishes.
